Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Community of Hope Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
WE BELIEVE the Bible is the inspired and only infallible Word of God. It is our final authority in all matters.
2 Timothy 3:16 — “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
WE BELIEVE that God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.
(John 4:24)
WE BELIEVE in ONE God who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Hebrews 13:8; John 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:5–6; Philippians 2:1–11; John 14:16–26)
WE BELIEVE God is eternally existent and has revealed Himself in three ways: God in creation, God in redemption, and God within us.
(John 1:1; 14:20; 15:8; 16:13; Acts 1:8; Romans 5:10)
WE BELIEVE that in order to receive salvation, one must be born again.
(John 3:5; Colossians 2:12; Luke 19:8–9; Acts 8:30; 19:1–6)
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” (Titus 3:5)
WE BELIEVE that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
WE BELIEVE that water baptism is a command given by Jesus Christ to all believers (Matthew 28:19). We see the first fulfillment of that command recorded in Acts 2:38.
WE BELIEVE there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved, but Jesus Christ.
(Acts 4:12)
WE BELIEVE in the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
WE BELIEVE that the power of the Holy Ghost (Acts 1:8) fell on the Day of Pentecost as the manifested promise of the Comforter (John 14:16), sent to equip the Church with power to witness and to build the Church of Jesus Christ then and now.
WE BELIEVE the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to believers for edification—bringing clarity, insight, understanding, and encouragement—and for equipping the Church.
WE BELIEVE in the blessed hope, which is in Christ at His return.
(1 Thessalonians 2:14; 4:16–17; Titus 2:11; John 1:14, 17)
